An experience at Ali's Acre
Hands-on learning and outdoor discovery for Zanzibar's students.
Many schools in Zanzibar have come to Ali's Acre for school trips, and it's easy to see why. The acre is a living classroom — students walk through the organic farm, meet the rabbits, learn how composting works, and discover where their food really comes from. It's education through doing, not just watching.
A typical school trip starts with a guided walk through the garden, identifying plants, herbs and trees. Students help feed the rabbits, feel the soil, and ask as many questions as they like. After that there's time to explore, a shared meal from the garden, and space to run around in a place that feels miles away from the classroom.
We work with teachers to tailor each visit to the age group and curriculum. Whether it's a morning visit or a full day, we make sure every student leaves with dirt on their hands and something new in their heads.
From the acre

Soak in a circular pit of mineral-rich bentonite clay, then dry off in the sun on a woven straw bed before your potli massage.

Our family of rabbits live in shaded hutches by the garden. Children (and grown-ups) are welcome to say hello.

Wander through raised beds of herbs, leafy greens and banana groves. Everything we serve starts here.
